1950 Kenton, No.241 Milk Wagon in Original Box

1950 Kenton, No.241 Milk Wagon in Original Box

This incredible example of Kenton's, No.241 cast iron Milk Wagon is only the second mint in box store stock example I've found. The last was in 1994. Don't let the paint or gloss fool you. It's not a reproduction. It's not been repainted or repaired. Everything on it is 100% factory original including the reins. It comes with its fabulous original Kenton box which grades excellent+ to near mint. The box is the second best box I've seen. Toy was purchased from a major toy auction house who also graded it as mint in box.

The cast iron toy milk wagon was a favorite of kids for many years. It was produced by several cast iron toy companies until the horse drawn wagon went the way of the dinosaur. Today, reproductions are typically found more frequently than the original which makes this find particularly enticing. Solid white enclosed wagon highlighted in red embossed text (MILK), dark blue seated driver, cherry red undercarriage and harness, and a single jet black horse with silver mane and tail and gold yoke, belt, blinders, and mouth grip. The balance wheel under the horse' front left hoof is black painted wood and all original. The reins which have yellowed slightly from age are knotted to form a complete loop from the driver to the horse.

The heavy, though narrow walled cardboard box has its original Kenton Toys Milk Wagon label on one end. It's original $2.69 price can still be easily read just to left of the label. The box contains its original brown waxed paper packing material, as well as small scraps of old newspaper. The box is complete with every endflap and locking tab, top and bottom.
